AI Automation Glossary
Plain-English definitions of the terms you'll encounter when exploring AI automation for your business.
AI Voice Agent
A software system that can answer phone calls, have a natural conversation, and take actions like booking appointments or routing calls — without a human involved. It uses AI to understand what the caller says and respond appropriately. The voice is generated by AI and can sound almost identical to a human.
Workflow Automation
A sequence of tasks that runs automatically when triggered by an event. For example: when a new client signs up → send a welcome email → create a folder → add to CRM → generate an invoice. No human needs to do any of those steps manually.
Lead Scoring
The process of evaluating how good of a prospect a lead is, usually on a 1–10 scale. AI lead scoring analyzes data about a business (reviews, website, size, location) and assigns a score based on how likely they are to become a customer and how valuable they'd be.
CRM (Customer Relationship Management)
A system for tracking all your interactions with customers and prospects — calls, emails, notes, deals, and follow-up tasks. In an AI-powered setup, the CRM updates automatically as AI systems interact with leads and customers.
Drip Sequence
A series of automated follow-up messages sent to a prospect over time — typically 5–8 emails or texts sent over 2–4 weeks. Each message is different and adds value. Drip sequences keep your business top-of-mind until the prospect is ready to act.
Voice Cloning
Technology that creates a digital copy of a real person's voice. In Aurelius AI Voice Agents, we can clone your receptionist's voice or an approved team member's voice, so the AI sounds exactly like someone from your team.
Escalation Logic
The rules that determine when an AI system should hand off to a human. For example: if a caller is upset, if the question is outside the AI's knowledge base, or if the caller explicitly asks to speak to a person. Well-designed escalation logic is what makes AI systems feel natural and trustworthy.
